Welcome to the Plainview-Old Bethpage Special Education PTA (SEPTA)Website

POB SEPTA is a district-wide unit comprised of parents, teachers and administrators.  Our goal is to support and promote a greater awareness of special education in the Elementary, Middle and High School. We address the issues of students whose learning needs require the support of Special Education, and Related Services (OT/PT/Speech).

If your child has an IEP  or a 504 Plan, you should become a member of SEPTA.

We aim to join together all the families throughout the district that are interested in the quality of education for children with special needs. We strive to create a community that values and respects each student's learning abilities and to ensure that all children receive an education that allows them to reach their full potential.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SEPTA MEMBERSHIP?

· SEPTA can help you learn what resources are available to your child within the district.

· SEPTA can provide a venue for raising common concerns to appropriate district personnel.

· SEPTA can connect you with other parents who have shared similar experiences.

· SEPTA can help you learn to advocate for your child.

During the year, we provide a variety of services for our families. We host special events for our students. We also provide informational meetings, resources and workshops for parents so they can be informed advocates as they strive to meet the needs of their children.

SEPTA is planning a number of exciting and informative events for the 202-2022 school year! We have many programs and activities. Our monthly meetings offer opportunities to hear guest speakers, meet with others with similar experiences and share tips and ideas.  Please check the district calendar for more information and our meeting dates.

SEPTA looks forward to the return of past members and to meeting new ones, too! We hope you will join us in both membership and attendance.

Thank you,

Michael Cohen
